The first few times, I had to have someone help by holding the braid while I gathered up more hair, but now I can do it on my own.
Since my hair is so long, if I want to french braid only part of it I separate out the hair I'm leaving down, gather it in a ponytail holder to keep from accidentally grabbing on to it and pull it around to the front so that the ends aren't tangling with the section I'm working on.How to/ tips on french braiding your own hair?
I have the opposite problem I can only french braid my own hair and not anyone elses, but I would have to say just keep trying.
