Hair braiding?

Okay I get a relaxer every 6 weeks because i have a short haircut which i'm growing out. Now my 6 weeks are up and tomorrow I want to braid my hair in box braids to give my hair a little break from relaxing and more time to let my new growth grow more so when the next time i relax it, ti will be longer. So i was wondering if this is a good idea and what tips can you give me to take care of the part of my hair that was relaxed 6 weeks ago when in the braids?Hair braiding?
That is a GREAT idea putting your hair into box braids instead of a relaxer. Remember to keep your hair MOISTURIZED!!!! African American hair thirsts for moisture, especially in braids.

Deep condition your hair every 1-2 weeks.

Wrap your hair with a satin bonnet EVERY night, or sleep with a satin pillow case.

If your planning on keeping them in for a month or so, rebraid the edges every 2 weeks, because the hairline is fragile, and cant hold heavy amount of hair for too long without breaking.

Wash your hair with a clearifying shampoo before/after deep conditioning.

And remember, dont get em done too tight or your hair follicles could get damaged.

You can find good hair weaving / braiding information at below blog. It will definitely help you. Have a look at it.

i think it is a good idea to get your hair braided. usually the salon/person braiding your hair will know what you can use for your hair when its braided. i havent had my hair braided in a while, so im not really sure. yes your hair will be longer after the braids but not that much longer. if you really want your hair to grow out, try leaving the perms/chemicals alone for awhile and doing the braids. and every time you get the braids taken out, have them clip your ends. They're spose to be clipped every 6 weeks to keep growth.
