Braiding is a social/cultural tradition Grandmother did mom's hair who did her sister's hair who did we children. All the while swapping the news and gossip of the day. I definately feel it is a skill passed down. It comes almost natural for most. I notice that African women seem to braid a lot faster though.
For me wearing locs has both cultural, spiritual and personal connections.
