This is to afro-Caribbean females who knows about braiding hair....?

I wanted to know if there are any black females who specialize or knows anything about braiding hair.

I know how to do it myself, but I don't want to plat it all the way out to the end, so how do you tie it to make it secure and last longer without it undoing?

The kind of hair I have is called Auntie Lizzy Jumbo braid, I can't find any pictures on google.

I'll really appreciate it.This is to afro-Caribbean females who knows about braiding hair....?
I braid my own hair as well, but I usually do micro braids. Because they are so small, it usually takes no extra effort to get them to not unravel.

Braiding a bit tighter may help. I'm sorry, I'm not aware of the texture of hair your using, but it sounds like something synthetic, maybe Kanekalon fiber?

If it is Kanekalon or Toyokalon, then some things you could try is after braiding until your ready to stop, take a few strands from the braid, wrap it around and then make a little knot. I used to do this, but it makes the job extra longer.

Another thing that you could do is purchase Nail glue, which they usually sell at the hair stores. Once you've braided down to your desired length, dab a bit of glue under where you've finish braiding, and that might give it a bit of a hold.

A last alternative you have, ONLY if the texture is Kanekalon, is that once you've braided the entire head, set a pot or kettle of boiling water, pour the hot water into a basin of some sort, and then dip the braids for a few moments into the hot water, right up to where you've stopped braiding. Needless to say, if you can't do this alone, don't, and have a towel handy to protect your face and neck from the steam, as well as to catch the braids once they're out of the piping hot water. There are good and bad things about this method. Once you expose this texture hair to that kind of heat, it damages the hair a bit, and also, it's usually a process that you'll have to repeat at least every other week or so. Alternatively, what you can do (again, only with Kanekalon fiber) is braid the braids into a few huge jumbo braids, and then dip them in the hot water. Once you dry, and unravel the jumbo braids, your braids will be curly. To get them straight again, repeat the process without doing the jumbo braids.

I hope this helped some. This is to afro-Caribbean females who knows about braiding hair....?
