the whole head being braided will fairley long hair? How much will hair braiding cost in aruba?
Make sure you agree on the price before they start...otherwise they will bring their friends to help and want more money. Stick to your guns...there are plenty of people who want to do it for you.
Ps...if you are white I recommend NOT doing it. I did it a couple of times...really long hair...it took HOURS to take it out...hours of tears, knots, and ripping it out....not to mention your scalp will burn if you don't put sunscreen on it and when you do it's just nasty! How much will hair braiding cost in aruba?
that depends on several factors. at the resort that we stayed at, 2 nights a week vendors would come in and set up and there were a couple of ladies braiding hair, my hair was below my shoulders and she did the thicker braids on me, all the way down, like corn rows, and only charged me $50, or, $2 a braid, partly because of the length of my hair, and she said a lot of men dont get braids and she was ';giving me a deal'; so i would tell other guys with long hair where i got them done.
my friends daughter had partial braids, much slimmer than mine, and only went about 1/2 way back on her head and she paid $75, but, had a lot more braids than i did, and hers were smaller.
i think a lot of what they charge is for time, not the braiding itself, she took almsot an hour for mine, and almost an hour and a half for my friends daughter.
we are going back this summer, but i had my haircut and wont be getting braids again, it was ok for me since my hair was longer and it wouldnt stay out of my face with the wind there, but, if you really want your hair braided, before you spend a lot of money in aruba for it, i would call around to beauty schools, or see if your friends would be willing to do it and see how you like it first.
like the one poster said, you have to put sunscreen on the bald spots and it does get kind of gross and it takes a while to take out once you get home.
i took mine out the day after we got home, and my hair looked like ';buckwheat'; from the ';little rascals';, plus, i had ';stripes on my scalp from the sun.
would i recommend the braids? not rerally, it was ok, but nothing i will do again, this year when we go back, i'll just have my hair cut before we leave, or pull it back into a ponytail again.
I wouldn't expect to pay less than $50. I have had it done a couple times in different places in the Caribbean. It was around that for me. It was not terribly difficult for me to remove, as long as they use foil at the ends, not rubber bands. You do have to watch out for the scalp in the sun. If you don't want to apply sunblock, you could wear a hat or stay in the shade.
Depends.
Some charge as little as $20-$35.
Others may be as high as $50-$75.
Shop around definitely. You'll pay more if they guide you to a shop and less if they do it on the beach.
