Does anyone else have difficulty platting or braiding their own hair?

My hair is between my shoulder blades in length. It gets easily matted and tangled. I'm useless at platting my own hair. I can do two plattes on either side but I prefer one but can't plat or braid it with out it being a disaster. Any tips?Does anyone else have difficulty platting or braiding their own hair?
braid it when your hair is damp, it will hold it's shape better. if your hair is layered like mine, use hairspray to keep the layers in place. you can try using a bit of gel while your hair is damp and then braid your hair. otherwise, i can't help you. just play around with it untill you can get the hang of it. good luck!Does anyone else have difficulty platting or braiding their own hair?
yes i can do plaits either side but never can get one down the back quite right! perhaps get someone to give you a hand?
